Walls & Roof

Walls & Roof

I worked with WBC Components to pre-build my walls & roof trusses off site and then deliver with a crane! The walls and roof were engineered to my specific wind & snow load for my build site, this is simply what I did. You’ll always want to get an engineer stamp for your own project.

I believe framing to be the most difficult part of the entire building process to make happen. Good framing are often locked in with general contractors that keep them busy. It’s also hard to convince folks to take on smaller projects since bigger houses are more profitable. This is why having access to WBC Components pre-built walls & trusses is such an incredible resources: it gives someone wanting to build a small and affordable house access to a team that otherwise wouldn’t consider the project

Thee process is straight forward and WBC handles transforming your design plans into a buildable engineered reality. Most of my communication with them was via email and phone and then finally an in person meeting to approve the plans and details. Working off the 4x8 building size concept makes everything easier

For my home I upgraded to Zip-R 9 insulated sheathing. There are also other neat little details I discovered along the way, like these wonderful Simpson truss screws, they make life so much easier when you’re hurricane strapping your trusses.

Wall cost delivered: $13,975.00 w/ Zip-R 9.6
